New opportunity for a self-motivated, creative, and enthusiastic junior web developer interested in new experiences and professional growth to join our team in Cape Town to work on an innovative financial service brand. You will provide hands-on assistance with the development of creative content for electronic personalised marketing, billing and other general Business to Consumer email and mobile communication. You will also develop and assist with UI/UX components for both internal and customer-facing interfaces.

The ideal candidate must possess an IT-related Degree / Diploma / Certificate with at least 2 years’ work experience in a creative technical environment. You must be proficient with writing custom HTML, HTML animation, CSS, JSON, jQuery and JavaScript. You must also have Jira/Bitbucket/Confluence experience, have worked with Agile Methodologies, excellent attention to detail with regards to testing of HTML & a solid understanding of cross browser compatibility and restrictions, web standards and CSS based design. You also need to be comfortable working multiple projects and campaigns simultaneously.

Collaborating with the IT Development Team, the position will be responsible for creation, design, execution, and coordinating production of digital marketing materials that inspire, excite and educate our consumers while communicating an effective message that promotes the brand objectives according to the company’s marketing objectives. Our ideal candidate has a natural talent and a disciplined approach to design, a keen eye for detail and is competent in brand assets design, application and roll-out. They need to be open to creative direction and guidance, but also comfortable with working independently.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

• IT related Degree / Diploma / Certificate.
• Experience/Skills – 2 – 3 Years’ experience in a creative technical environment.
• Fluent in English.
• Strong skills writing custom HTML, HTML animation, CSS, JSON, jQuery and JavaScript.
• Strong understanding of responsive web design to ensure that all HTML is device responsive for optimal end user experience.
• Good understanding of cross browser compatibility and restrictions, web standards and CSS based design.
• Excellent attention to detail with regards to testing of HTML and its functionality using relevant software.
• Experience in using Trello / Bit bucket / Confluence.
• Have working experience with Agile Methodologies.
• Be available beyond standard work hours when necessary.
• Advantageous – Vue.JS knowledge. Amazon Web Services knowledge

Useful experience if you have it:

• Familiarity with Linux desktop technologies
• Server-side languages, such as Python or NodeJS
• Experience working on a large scale React or Vue (with TypeScript) project
• Skilled in integrating with REST APIs.
• A history of open source contributions
